What is disability?
Disability covers everyone
who has a physical, sensory or mental impairment, which seriously affects their day-to-day activities. This includes people
with heart disease, diabetes, severe disfigurement, spina bifida, depression, schizophrenia, dyslexia, epilepsy, downs syndrome
and many other types of impairment. Disability affects people of all ages, from all types of community.
THANK YOU The members and trustees of CLUSTERS would like to thank the Wallington United Reformed Church, Sutton Community
Fund, SCVS, Radio Jackie, Sutton Comet, Sutton Guardian, the Ceefax community pages and all the individual people who supported
CLUSTERS in the beginning. Without their help the opening of a new independent club for disabled people would not have
been possible.

What is CLUSTERS
The idea of a user led group
for disabled adults based in The London Borough of Sutton was born in the Summer of 2003 by 3 people, 2 of which were disabled
themselves. It was decided that there would be no upper age limit and open to all disabilities. A pitch was taken at the Environmental
Fair in Carshalton Park to promote the idea of such a group. Letters and questionnaires were circulated to as many people
and organisations as possible. The initial response was very encouraging, so 3 preview days were organised starting in October
2003. Between 12 and 15 people attended each time. Activities were limited to games and lunch was sausage rolls and pies cooked
by a small team of volunteers. It was then agreed to open every Wednesday from February 2004. The name Clusters was
agreed on and Clusters received its first grant from The Sutton Community Fund allowing Clusters to become a registered charity
and open a bank account. The Wallington United Reformed Church let us stay rent free for the first year.Since then Clusters has welcomed many members,
volunteers and staff. Clusters is now entering its 10th year with hopefully many more to come.
